Story of women in time of war filmed in “The Mother”

Damascus, SANA- With a prominent artistic and elite presence, “the Mother” was premiered at Damascus-based Cinema City on Sunday, with the film showing the trio of the Syrian woman in the time of war.

The film tells the story of a mother who dies but neither of her six sons could attend her funeral because of the war circumstances taking place in the country.

The stories of each son and daughter are narrated in dramatic lines exposing the reason of their absence in a high technical professionalism.

The sensitive lens of the two-hour film director  Bassel al-Khatib could grasp details that were reproduced to compose touching scenes representing the director’s unique imprint.

al-Khatib, director of “Mariam” film, which gained seven international awards, succeeded once again to present a high quality film model in terms of directing the actors, employing all decoration elements and other technical and musical effects to serve the story of the feature film.

“The Mother” concludes with an impressive symbolic scene where the body of the mother is escorted in the funeral procession of a soldier from the Syrian Arab Army in a clear indication that Syria is the mother that should be defended against any aggression regardless of any side factor.

During the event, Minister of Culture Issam Khalil handed al-Khatib two awards he gained on his film Mariam in the Silk Road Festival in China.
