UN General Assembly adopts resolution affirming Palestinians permanent sovereignty in occupied Palestinian territory

New York, SANA – The United Nations General Assembly has adopted by majority a resolution affirming the permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Wafa News Agency reported that the UN General Assembly last night adopted by majority a resolution on the permanent sovereignty of Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory including East Jerusalem. “

It noted that 153 states voted in favor of the resolution, and 6 voted against it while 17 countries abstained from voting.

Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Maliki said that voting is an international affirmation on the solid and firm right of the Palestinian people in their natural resources including the land and energy and water resources, in addition to their right in their sea and in the compensation due to Israeli occupation’s exploitation of their natural resources.

Maliki called on the international community to adhere to implementing the international resolutions and to guarantee the Palestinian people’ free use of their land, rights and resources, in addition to putting an end to the practices of exploitation, violations and theft by the Israeli occupation.

Maliki also called on countries that voted against the resolution or those who abstained from voting to work on reviewing their stances and to take into consideration what international resolutions stipulated for in terms of guaranteeing the firm and eternal right of the Palestinian people in their land and their inalienable rights, on top the right of self- determination, return and independence of the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
