Damascus, SANA- The People’s Assembly in its 14th session of the 1st ordinary round of the 3rd legislative term chaired by its Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh on Sunday discussed the performance of Electricity Ministry and issues related to its work.
Electricity Minister Eng.Ghassan al-Zamel said, during the session, that the ministry rehabilitated in the recent months the power stations damaged by terrorism and began building new power stations with the help of some friendly countries, at a total cost of Euro 124 million.
He added that 179 electrical transformer stations have been rehabilitated in the liberated areas of Aleppo, and 300 others will be completed by the end of 2020.
He pointed out that the Ministry is facing big difficulties in getting fuel and gas needed to operate the power stations due to the sanctions and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.
