3rd round of Committee of Discussing the Constitution starts activities in Geneva

Geneva, SANA- The 3rd round of meetings for the mini-committee of the expanded body of the Committee of Discussing the Constitution on Monday started activities at the UN Headquarters in Geneva with the participation of the national delegation.

Media Sources stated that the national delegation stressed the importance of adhering to the Syrian people’s unifying national identity and of reaching consensus on it as an essential national principle that could constitute firm basis for the committee’s work in the coming stages.

The national delegation reiterated that the national identity is the means to enhance the sense of belonging to the homeland in the face of all ideas and schemes that threaten its unity.

UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen had announced recently that a third round of the Committee of Discussing the Constitution led and owned by Syria will be held on August 24th in Geneva.

The mini-committee has held two rounds at the UN Headquarters in Geneva during November last year.

The mini-committee consists of 45 members: 15 members of the national delegation, 15 members of the Turkish regime’s delegation, and 15 members of the delegation representing civil society.
