Prime Minister: Damascus International Fair evidence that Syria is a strong state

Damascus, SANA – Under the patronage of President Bashar al-Assad, activities of Damascus International Fair, the most prominent event on Syria’s economic calendar, kicks off Thursday  with the participation of several Arab and foreign countries including Russia, Iran, Belarus, China, Iraq and others.

Finishing touches are being put and the unremitting efforts of public and private sectors, not to mention the extraordinary governmental support will be finally crowned by the launching of the Fair which is making a comeback after a five-year absence.

In a press statement, Prime Minister Imad Khamis said that the launching of this great event  in presence of official delegations, around 1300 Arab and foreign businessmen and large number of local public and private companies, conveys a message on the rapid recovery of the Syrian state with its factories, workshops and oil fields resuming production.

He noted to the wide participation of public sector and the key role of state institutions as partners in the reconstruction stage, adding that the Fair stresses the strength of the Syrian state and its ability to stand again and rerun the production wheel despite all bets on its collapse.

The Prime Minister affirmed that products of the textiles, engineering, food and other sectors will be showcased across the fair’s pavilions, pointing out to the legislations, decrees and decisions taken in order to support production and industry sector and reduce the repercussions of the terrorist war waged on the country.

Khamis welcomed the fair’s Arab and foreign visitors, adding that they can benefit from the free shipping of goods and the competitiveness of the Syrian products in terms of high quality and contracts.

Damascus International Fair will be last from August 17 to 25 at the new Damascus Fairgrounds.
