Damascus, SANA-Caretaker Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi said the tourism sector is “a key pillar” of the comprehensive, balanced and sustainable development during the upcoming stage, on which great hopes are pinned for propping up national economy.
Visiting tourist establishments and restaurants in al-Rabweh in Damascus, Dr. al-Halqi said that “despite massive damage wrought to the tourism sector by armed terrorist groups, the will of the Syrian people and government will restore this vital sector to its erstwhile glamour.”
The process of reconstruction and rebuilding requires that all economic, service and development sectors be vitalized for establishing industrial, tourist and investment projects, urging businessmen at home to invest their capitals in projects that pay dividends for national economy.
PM al-Halqi hailed the stances of Syrian businessmen who insisted to stay in Syria to help in rebuilding.
Al-Halqi attributed a perceivable tourist activity to an “expanding patch of safety and the retrieving of normalcy in most of the Syrian areas,” saluting the Syrian army which is securing roads for citizens to travel, move and spend holidays.
“Citizens are visiting tourist sites and establishments in big numbers in what bespeaks love for life and rejection of the culture of death,” al-Halqi said, indicating that it demonstrates a state of recovery and stability in Syria amid major battlefield victories by the Syrian army.
He affirmed that the government is determined to make this tourist season a success and offer the necessary facilitations in this regard.
Al-Halqi reviewed the government’s efforts to revitalize the tourist sector by rehabilitating large numbers of tourist facilities that sustained damage due to terrorist attacks.
He indicated that Syria enjoys ravishing landscape which requires that it be invested in the best way, affirming President Bashar al-Assad’s keen interest in the development of the tourist sector.
