Tartous, SANA – Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East John X Yazigi called upon the international community to stop exporting terrorism, barbarism and takfirism, distorting facts, and making fake statements on embracing Christians of the Orient.
Presiding over a prayer of thanksgiving at St. Qozma and Damian Church in Safita, Tartous province, on Thursday, Yazigi said that those who have good intentions towards Christians and Muslims should spread the culture of dialogue and peace instead that of killing.
He added that the only way to protect Christians is to halt weapons flow into the region and spread peace, noting that kidnapping archbishops and clergymen in general, displacing millions of people and the international community’s silence vis-à-vis these crimes are a badge of shame on those who claim supporting human rights which we highly appreciate and refuse to be undermined.
Patriarch Yazigi said that the Syrians are invited to a peaceful political solution on the basis of reconciliation and away from foreign interference,
stressing Syria’s resilience thanks to the will of its people and the strength of its army and leadership.
For his part, the Greek-Orthodox Metropolitan of Akkar, Basilius Mansour, praised the co-existence of Christians and Muslims in Safita and the surrounding areas, and their unity in good and bad
times.
