Damascus, SANA-Caretaker Minister of Culture Lubana Mshaweh has briefed a French delegation from the French Society for Oriental Christians the ministry’s efforts to preserve archeological and historical sites in Syria from terrorist and vandalism acts.
The minister affirmed the Syrian people’s insistence to defend their homeland in the face of the fierce campaign targeting them.
Mshaweh said that the government is leaving no stone unturned to preserve the Syrian heritage by adopting a slew of measures to preserve the ancient sites, not to mention making communications with regional and international circles to restore the ancient pieces that had been stolen from sites inside Syria.
She hailed the role of the society’s members who realized that their governments are misleading them regarding the situation in Syria.
Head of the delegation Benjamin Blanchard, for his part, lauded the courage of the Syrian people and their determination to rebuild their country, voicing the society’s readiness to rebuild St. George Church in Maaloula.
