Distribution of food basket in Yarmouk Camp continues

Damascus, SANA – Distribution of humanitarian aid continued on Saturday in Yarmouk Camp in Damascus, with 523 food baskets containing fruit, vegetables, bread, canned goods, and baby food having been distributed among locals besieged by terrorist groups.

The distribution of aid was carried out by the General Authority for Palestine Arab Refugees (GAPAR) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), with support provided by the Syrian government and the Palestinian Red Crescent and under the supervision of the Higher Commission for Relief.

GAPAR Director General Ali Mustafa said that the total number of baskets distributed since January 30th 2014 in the camp has reached 39,545 food baskets and 3,776 medical baskets.

He said that eight patients were also evacuated from inside the camp and admitted at Damascus hospitals, making the number of patients who have been evacuated from the camp since January 30th 4,459.

Mustafa noted that Noor Association for Relief, Development and Progressive Youth is still providing vaccines to those who come to the distribution point, adding that the UNRWA and Palestinian Red Crescent medical teams are also providing medical care for locals.
