Provinces, SANA –The swearing-in ceremony of President Bashar al-Assad for a new term in office has whipped up celebrations and national activities across Syria, with people gathering to show support, joy and hope of better times ahead.

The Sweida branch of the Revolution Youth Union organized a march on Wednesday on the occasion.

Meanwhile, a national activity was organized in Lattakia, in cooperation with the National Union of Syrian Students branch, celebrating President al-Assad’s swearing-in for a new presidential term.

The participants voiced absolute trust in President al-Assad’s ability to steer Syria through this stage.

In Tartous, people gathered outside the Health Directorate building to celebrate the occasion, considering that President’s swearing-in amounts to a declaration of Syria’s victory over enemies.

“It is the will of the Syrian people that triumphed today,” said Director of Tartous Health Directorate Yassin Ibrahim, adding that the President’s speech “perfectly matched the aspirations of the Syrian people who want to see Syria returning to the shores of safety.”

Chairman of National Reconciliations in Tartous Sheikh Ibrahim al-Dali hailed the “magnificent spectacle of democracy that has unraveled in Syria.”

People of the Syrian Golan, marking the occasion, said in a statement that President al-Assad “is the Syrian and Arab faithful leader”, heartily congratulating him for being sworn in for a new term in office.

Expressing full support to the content of the President’s milestone speech upon taking the oath of office, the statement saluted the Syrian army and people “who are fighting a dirty conspiracy that seeks to undermine Syria.”

“The steadfastness of the Syrian people spelled the doom of the wrongly-named ‘Arab Spring’ and recalibrated the compass,” added the statement.
