Moscow, SANA-Russian President’s Special envoy to the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Bogdanov affirmed on Tuesday that the presence of Russian military experts in Syria is linked to the need for training its soldiers how to use military technologies offered to Syria according to joint contracts in the domain of military cooperation.
“Our contracts with Syria are continuously implemented and different kinds of equipment are being exported to it… so these technologies are in need for services, and our partners of the Syrian armed forces are also in need for help and training,” Bogdanov, responding to press questions, said.
He added that Moscow has no plans to rehabilitate the logistic service point in Tartous or transform it into a full Russian military base.
“The logistic point in Tartous is carrying out a mission to offer logistic support, nevertheless, different numbers of Russian experts work in this point… and there is nothing new in this issue,” Bogdanov said.
