A solidarity symposium with Venezuelan people at Arab Writers Union HQ

Damascus, SANA – In solidarity with the Venezuelan people in confronting the U.S. threats and conspiracies, Arab Writers Union and Palestinian National Front for Return held a symposium under the title of “Nations in Confrontation of Siege” at Damascus-based Arab Writers Union HQ on Wednesday.

The Venezuelan Ambassador in Damascus Imad Saab considered that Syria is an example to follow in steadfastness and the insistence to triumph for the Venezuelans, who have been confronting the Imperialistic schemes for sixteen years.

The Ambassador clarified that his country lives under the threat of direct military intervention by the USA, which has imposed economic sanctions on it, taking several measures against it, the most recent of which is the resolution passed by the U.S. President Barack Obama considering that Venezuela constitutes a threat to the U.S. national security.

“How could nations aspiring freedom and rejection imperialism be threatening peace and security,” he wondered.

Chairman of the Arab Writers Union Hussein Joma said that Syrians’ and Palestinians’ solidarity with the Venezuelan people is a self-solidarity because a country where Hugo Chavez comes from, the struggler known for his support to Arabs, is certainly a friendly country.

He pointed out Venezuela’s stance during the rules of Chavez and the current President Nicolas Maduro regarding Syria, adding that the U.S. hostility towards Venezuela is due to its stances in support of other nations’ liberty and sovereignty as well as because the Latin country rejects the implementation of the U.S. policies in South America.

For his part, Assistant Secretary General of the Palestinian National Movement Talal Najji said that the U.S. Administration, which always hides behind the motto of democracy, is against the elected readership in Venezuela because it contradicts its interests, standing by the side of the Lebanese people and the Palestinians during the Israeli aggression on them, as Struggler Chaves announced that the so-called “Arab Spring” is an imperialistic trick and he supported Syria in the war waged against it.
