Tartous, SANA- The Church of the Dormition of Our Lady was inaugurated Saturday at Saya village in Tartous countryside amid official, religious, and popular presence.
Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East John X Yazigi said in a statement to the journalists “We look to the future, Muslims and Christians, committed to loving our Syrian homeland under the leadership of President Bashar Al-Assad.”
Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed said that all houses of God express love, peace, well-being and solidarity among the Syrians.
Metropolitan for the Archdiocese of Lattakia and its environs, Athanasisos said that that “life continues in Syria despite all the harsh conditions that the people suffer due to the siege and terrorism.”
He highlighted the contribution of Syrian expatriates to the construction of this church which is a place to make prayers for the recovery of Syria’s stability and to send the world a message of humanity from the Syrian land.
