Athens, SANA- The death toll from the floods that struck the Thessaly region in central Greece as a result of Daniel storm has risen to 14.
AFP quoted rescue teams as saying that bodies of an 88-year-old woman and her 65-year-old son were found near the town of Karditsa, where search and rescue efforts have been ongoing.
According to the Civil Defense teams, five persons remain missing.
So far, more than 4,250 people have been evacuated and transported to safe areas , Firefighters said.
A previous toll indicated the death of six people the day before yesterday, and major destruction and damage amounting to billions of dollars as a result of the rainstorm caused by the storm “Daniel ”, which struck central Greece.
The extreme weather conditions come after devastating wildfires in Greece this summer, resulting in at least 26 deaths.
