Geneva, SANA- Activities of the 152nd session of the World Health Organization’s Executive Board continue for the fourth day, held in Geneva from January 30th to February 7th, 2023.
“It is very important to have a strategy that promotes more attention and accountability through strategic goals, objectives, and indicators,” Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghabbash, reciting the statement of the Syrian Arab Republic, and on behalf of the member states in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, said about “the global strategy for infection prevention and control.”
Al-Ghabbash referred to the gaps and deficiencies related to Infection prevention and control (IPC) programs and practices in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
He noted that Covid19 pandemic revealed that no country would claim of having effective program to tackle infectious disease outbreaks, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
“The pandemic has provided an unprecedented opportunity to expand the scope of Infection prevention and control –IPC- programs throughout the region and to make progress in this field,” the Minster added.
Al-Ghabbash affirmed that Syria is committed to expand the scope of IPC and ensure the delivery of safe and high-quality health care.
