Nur-Sultan, SANA- The last group of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) peacekeepers left Kazakhstan on Wednesday on their way back to Russia.
“Four Russian military transport planes with the peacekeepers aboard have departed from Nur-Sultan and Almaty airports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. These four planes will bring home the last units of the peacekeepers and the command of the peacekeeping contingent led by Colonel-General Andrey Serdyukov,” Russian Defense Ministry stated in a statement on Wednesday.
The ministry noted that the Russian military aviation had already withdrawn the peacekeeping troops of Armenia, Belarus and Tajikistan from Kazakhstan, while the Kyrgyz military left the country themselves by land.
Lieutenant-General Serdyukov, upon his departure from Kazakhstan, announced the end of the peacekeeping operation, which was carried out by decision of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on the territory of this country.
Serdyukov pointed out that the peacekeeping forces have achieved all the goals assigned to them, hailing the level of coordination and professionalism between the military of the CSTO member states.
