40 killed in fires in Algeria, governmental efforts to control them  

Algiers, SANA- More than 100 fires have ripped through Algeria, killing 40 people, and burning thousands of dunums of forests and agricultural lands.

According to what was announced by Algerian Prime Minister Prime Minister Ayman Benabderrahmane yesterday, the death toll from the forest fires has reached 42, including 17 civilians and 25 soldiers.

 Minister of Interior Local Authorities and National Planning Kamel Beldjoud assured the affected families, declaring that they will be compensated for the losses they incurred.

The Algerian government continues its tireless efforts to control the fires and treat their damage and repercussions, as President Abdelmadjid Tebboune gave instructions yesterday to take the necessary measures to control the situation left by these fires, stressing that the Algerian people, as “victorious in previous ordeals, will triumph in this ordeal.”

According to what government sources announced, a large number of fires have been brought under control thanks to the efforts made by the various bodies concerned, while the Prime Minister announced that the government had made contacts with foreign countries to hire planes to help put out these fires.
