Sousan: Terrorist attacks against Syria and int’l tensions are offspring of US and Western hegemonic policies

Damascus, SANA- The latest developments in Syria and on regional and international arena were on the table during a meeting held Sunday between Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister Ayman Sousan and Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russian Federation Ilyas Umakhanov and the accompanying delegation.

Umakhanov stressed Russian people’s solidarity with Syria in the face of terrorism, expressing confidence in Syria’s victory which is a victory of humanity against barbarism represented by the extremist Takfiri mentality.

He highly appreciated the resilience of the Syrian people.

Sousan, for his part, stressed that terrorist attacks and the tension witnessed by other parts of the world are the offspring of the policies of hegemony and arrogance adopted by the US and the West who work to undermine other countries’ stability and violate their sovereignty as they seek to hinder the establishment of a balanced multipolar world governed by the international legitimacy.

“Those who raise the slogans of democracy are the same who are practicing the ugliest forms of dictatorship in international relations,” Sousan said.

He highly appreciated the principled stance adopted by the Russian Federation in support of Syria in the face of the close-minded Takfiri thinking based on Russia’s respect of other countries’ sovereignty and the non-interference in their internal affairs.

Sousan shed light on the Russian key role in realizing international peace and security.

He called for further enhancing cooperation between Syria and Russia in all domains, indicating that the meetings of the joint Syrian-Russian Committee held last month in Sochi were a landmark in the process of historic relations between the two friendly countries.
