Damascus , SANA – Members of the Budget and Accounts Committee at the People’s Assembly discussed the proposed 2015 budgets of the Water Resources Ministry and the Communications and Technology Ministry.
In the meeting for discussing the Water Resources Ministry budget, which was set at SYP 16,274,530,000, the chairman of the committee pointed out to the necessity of taking steps to protecting water from pollution, especially from pollution caused by leaking sewage into water reserves.
Water Resources Minister Kamal al-Sheikha of affirmed that the ministry is working on providing the water sources in all the provinces and carrying out maintenance on a number of dams across the country.
While discussing the Communications and Technology Ministry budget, which is set at SYP 1.21 billion, the Committee members called for improving and expanding internet services and communication services in general, in addition reducing telephone fees and restoring services in certain areas.
Communications and Technology Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali said that the Ministry is working to develop the communications network in all areas, noting that the crisis has had an adverse effect on the Ministry’s work.
He said that the most important project for 2015 is the e-government project, in addition to installing around 500,000 new internet gateways.
