Lavrov underlines necessity of eradicating terrorism hotbed in Idleb

Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reaffirmed the necessity of eliminating terrorism hotbed in Idleb.

In a press conference with his Angolan counterpart Manuel Augusto in Moscow on Monday, Lavrov indicated that terrorists positioned in Idleb shouldn’t be allowed to continue to target residential buildings and positions of the Syrian army and Hmeimim base.

He asserted that ” The Syrian army’s liberation of its territories backed by Russia is not considered a violation of any of the agreements including those of Astana and Sochi as they exclude the groups which are classified by the International Security Council as terrorists.”

Lavrov referred to falsifying the facts on the humanitarian situation in Syria by Western media outlets, calling upon the international community and the international mass media to depend on facts and events and not on what is claimed by the terrorist organization of the so-called “White Helmets” which is known of falsifying the facts.

Regarding the situation in the Syrian al-Jazeera region, Lavrov affirmed that the schemes of the US administration in al-Jazeera region target the unity of the Syrian territories and they constitute a violation of the Syrian sovereignty and a breach of the international law and the Security Council’s resolutions which affirm the necessity of preserving the unity and the sovereignty of the Syrian territories.
