Abdollahian underlines necessity of consolidating strategic relations between Iran and Syria

Tehran, SANA- Special Assistant to Speaker of Iran’s Shura Council Hussein Amir Abdollahian affirmed the necessity of enhancing bilateral relations and joint cooperation between Syria and Iran in fighting terrorism.

Meeting Syria’s Ambassador in Tehran Dr. Adnan Mahmoud, Abdollahian described the relations between the two countries as excellent, asserting the importance of continuing and consolidating the strategic relations between them.

He noted that Iran will continue to support Syria till reaching a political solution to the crisis in it through dialogue between the Syrians themselves.

Abdollahian considered that the continued presence of the remnants of terrorists and the foreign forces which entered the Syrian territories without the permission of the Syrian government contradict with the bases of realizing peace and security in the region.

For his part, Ambassador Mahmoud asserted that the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the US and the West on Syria and Iran entail taking tangible steps to broaden the fields of economic, investment and trade cooperation, particularly the strategic projects to serve the interests of the two countries.
