Venezuelan President Maduro wins election to another six-year term

Caracas, SANA- Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro won a new six-year term, National Electoral Council announced Sunday.

With more than 90% of the votes counted, Maduro, had 67.7% of the vote,  the Council chief Tibisay Lucena said.

She added that Maduro’s main opponent Henri Falcon won 21.2% of the vote, she added.

In a speech to his supporters outside Miraflores presidential palace in downtown Caracas,  Maduro called his rivals who lost the elections to join him in a sincere dialogue on the future of Venezuela.

He expressed full readiness to sit with them at the time they wish for this goal.

Maduro said that his victory in the elections poses a victory over imperialism, pledging to the crowds gathered outside the presidential palace to put developing the country’s economy on his top priorities.
