Baku, SANA- Foreign Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries have condemned the terrorism which targets Syria, expressing their solidarity with all countries suffering from terrorism and calling for combating this phenomenon.
Adopting the (Baku Political Declaration) at the end of their 18th Mid-Term Ministerial Meeting in Baku on Saturday, the Foreign Ministers also condemned all the practices and crimes of the terrorist organizations of Daesh, al-Qaeda and other terrorist entities linked to them in Syria, Iraq and in Libya. They pointed out that impact of the terrorist threat is not confined to these countries; rather it extends to the countries of the region and the world.
The declaration showed strong support for and solidarity with Syria’s legitimate right to restore the occupied Syrian Golan, demanding the Israeli occupation entity to immediately and unconditionally fulfill its obligations and fully withdraw from the occupied Syrian Golan to the borders of 4 June 1967.
The hostile acts committed by Israeli occupation entity against Syria were denounced including the recent attacks and Israeli support for the terrorist organizations in southern Syria.
The Foreign Ministers voiced their solidarity with Syria, calling for holding Israel accountable for its aggressive acts.
The need to reach a peaceful political solution to the current crisis in Syria through the Syrian-led political process based on the Geneva Communique and UN Security Council Resolution 2254 was emphasized in the declaration.
The Foreign Ministers expressed their concern over the promulgation and application of unilateral coercive economic measures against Syria which reflects negatively on the Syrians’ livelihood.
They reiterated commitment to the Ten Principles of Bandung particularly principles of respect for sovereignty, sovereign equality, non-interference in the internal affairs of states, peaceful settlement of disputes and non-use of force or threat in international relations.
They renewed the call for a Weapons of Mass Destruction-free Middle East, demanding Israel, as the only part which possesses nuclear weapons, to accede to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and to put its nuclear facilities under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari represented Syria to the 18th Mid-Term Ministerial Meeting of foreign ministers of NAM countries recently held in Baku.
