Indian Cultural Days kick off in Lattakia

Lattakia, SANA- The Indian Cultural Days started activities on Sunday at Dar al-Assad for Culture in Lattakia through holding a concert and a dancing show by Rajasthan Folk Dance Band.

The Rajasthan Folk Dance Band, which consists of 10 artists including 3 dancers, two musicians and five singers, performed simple dances full of vitality and activity with the participation of men and women in expression of happiness and joy according to the Indian folklore.

In a statement to journalists following the opening of the festivity, Lattakia Governor Khuder al-Salem talked about the distinguished and historic relations binding the two friendly countries in different domains, indicating that these relations haven’t been affected by the war waged against Syria.

For his part, India’s Ambassador in Damascus Man Mohan Bhanot said in a statement to SANA that this festivity comes in completion of the shows performed by the Embassy in Syria in April last year within India’s celebrations on occasion of its 70th Independence Day and that the festivity is meant to greet the Syrian people.

Chairman of Culture Directorate in Lattakia, Majd Sarem, underlined the importance of the art and music in the rapprochement among different peoples and cultures, particularly the friendly countries such as Syria and India who share a rich cultural reservoir.
