Geneva, SANA – The UN Special Envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura is still considering his participation in the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in the Russian city of Sochi.
De Mistura has not yet adopted a final decision on participation in the Congress scheduled to be held in late January, UN spokeswoman Alessandra Vellucci said, stressing that the Envoy’s position is still firm on the upcoming Congress, as he welcomes all that serves the ongoing talks under the auspices of the UN on the settlement of the crisis in Syria.
De Mistura is currently working on preparations for the 9th round of Geneva talks, Vellucci said, pointing out that the UN wants to organize that round before the end of this month in line with the preliminary plans.
