Khamis, Shaaban, and Mikdad meet Indian delegation

Damascus, SANA – Prime Minister Imad Khamis discussed on Saturday with Secretary at the Indian External Affairs Ministry Amar Sinha and the accompanying delegation enhancing cooperation relations between Syria and India and means to develop them in various fields and overcoming obstacles to hold meetings of the Syrian-Indian joint committee.

Khamis voiced the Syrian government’s appreciation of India’s stance in support of Syria in the face of the terrorist war, noting that the Syrian government welcomes the participation of Indian friends, including businessmen and industrialists, in establishing joint investment projects and encourages the Indian companies to participate in the reconstruction phase in Syria for the benefit of the people of the two friendly countries.

He said that the Syrian government is working to overcome all the obstacles and to provide the necessary facilities to hold the Syrian-Indian joint committee meetings during the upcoming period that are aimed at pushing forward the relations between the two sides in various fields.

For his part, Sinha affirmed the Indian government’s keenness to enhance the economic relations with Syria and upgrading them to the level of the deep-rooted political relations.

Shaaban: Looking forward to India playing bigger role in resolving crisis in Syria

Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban also met Sinha and the accompanying delegation, affirming the important role played by India in the international arena as a member of the BRICS group, in addition to being an outstanding democracy with demographic diversity.

In a statement to journalists after the meeting, Shaaban said that Syria is looking forward to India playing a greater role not only in resolving the crisis in Syria, but also on the global level in general, particularly with the disintegration of the western axis and the western domination of the world.

She said that briefed the delegation on the terrorist war in Syria, its phases, and the role played in this war by many countries in the region such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey, referring to the factors which helped Syria to persevere in confronting terrorism and the challenges posed by regional and western countries conspiring against the Syrian people.

The Advisor confirmed to the Indian side that the Syrian society has became stronger and more cohesive than ever before , adding that the terrorist war has failed to achieve its objectives and to undermine the Syrians’ will.

For his part, Sinha said that the visit aims to renew India support for the Syrian government and its people and to discuss the possibility of joint work in the reconstruction phase in Syria.

Mikdad: Syria values India’s support in the war against terrorism

In a similar meeting, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad discussed with Sinha and the accompanying delegation means to boost cooperation between Syria and India in all fields, particularly economic and political cooperation.

Mikdad said that Syria values India’s position that supports Syria in its war against terrorism, detailing the efforts exerted by Syria in fighting terrorism, defending its people, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

The Deputy Minister pointed out that certain states fund, arm, and train terrorists in Syria, and that the US-led alliance isn’t serious about fighting ISIS, al-Nusra, and groups affiliated to them, adding that this alliance targeted civilians, killing hundreds of innocent civilians and destroying infrastructure.

For his part, Sinha said that India is following up on developments in Syria, and that he wishes Syria success in its war on terrorism.

He affirmed India’s firm support for reaching a political solution for the crisis in Syria and for backing the Syrian government’s efforts to fight terrorism, asserting India’s desire to boost bilateral relations in various fields.
